Dagmawe “Dag” Teferawork

Senior Associate

Dagmawe “Dag” Teferawork is a Senior Associate at Feighny Hartle PLLC, where he focuses on oil and gas title examination. He prepares original drilling, supplemental, and division order title opinions covering properties in the Permian Basin, the Eagle Ford Shale, and East Texas, including state and federal leases in New Mexico.

Dag brings more than a decade of combined experience as an oil and gas attorney and petroleum landman. His time in the field and at the courthouse gives him a practical understanding of how records are kept and how title problems arise, which allows him to spot issues early and write requirements that clients can actually cure. His work regularly involves complex ownership questions, including fractional mineral and royalty interests, non-participating royalty allocations, and multi-tract units.

Before joining FH in 2026, Dag was a partner at Teferawork & Ibrahim PLLC, a boutique Dallas law firm he built over roughly eight years through client referrals. His practice there covered upstream oil and gas transactions, real estate and commercial transactions, and estate planning. Running his own firm gave him a client-side view of how title work drives deals, financing decisions, and long-term planning.

Dag earned his Juris Doctor and Master of Science in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is licensed to practice law in Texas.

"I let the instruments lead. Every call in a title opinion should trace back to the record, and every requirement should be one the client can actually cure."

Experience

Prepared an original drilling title opinion covering a federal oil and gas lease in Lea County, New Mexico, for a Permian Basin operator.

Prepared supplemental drilling and division order title opinions for East Texas units in Harrison County, including the allocation of non-participating royalty interests and reconstruction of legal descriptions across multiple sub-tracts
