John “Jack” Shumake’s practice focuses on oil and gas title examination and related due diligence. He has experience preparing drilling, division order, and supplemental title opinions for upstream clients across Texas, as well as assisting with division of interest analyses for pooled units. His experience also includes acquisition due diligence involving the reconciliation of record title with client ownership records.

In 2024, Jack assisted the Texas General Land Office with one of the largest land acquisitions in Texas state history.

Experience

Prepared and reviewed over one hundred supplemental title opinions as part of a large multi-tract oil and gas title project in Tarrant County.

Prepared a series of original title opinions in Shelby County, Texas, and assisted with the unit-level division of interest and curative compilation for multiple units.
