Johnathan R. Gordon

Of Counsel

Johnathan R. Gordon focuses his practice on oil and gas title and upstream energy matters throughout the Rocky Mountain region.  He prepares drilling, division order, and supplemental title opinions involving complex mineral and leasehold ownership, including fee, state, and federal minerals and ownership that varies by depth and geologic formation.

Much of Johnathan’s work involves complicated chains of title.  He examines deeds, mineral and royalty conveyances and reservations, leases, probate proceedings, trusts, and other instruments to determine mineral and leasehold ownership and identify title issues that need to be cured.

Johnathan also has experience in real property, probate, and estate planning.  That experience is especially useful in title work because ownership problems often have their roots in a conveyance, a probate proceeding, or the transfer of property from one generation to the next.  Understanding those underlying issues allows him to determine not only where the title problem occurred, but what can be done to resolve it.  His approach to title work is practical: identify the ownership, understand the problem, and determine what needs to be done to resolve it.

"Effective title curative starts with understanding the real property and probate issues that created the problem in the first place."
